Who am I?
That question still lingers, constantly evolving with each new twist and turn that disrupts or illuminates my journey.
In my mid-40s, I am a woman, a first-generation Australian with Uruguayan roots. My roles span across being a daughter, a partner, a parent, a grandparent, an aunt, and a friend.
Balancing a full-time job, I also actively volunteer and co-founded a small not-for-profit organization, driven by my unwavering passion, honesty, assertiveness, commitment, and perhaps a touch of bossiness.
A great laugh is my solace, and while I’m not particularly sporty, I embrace my neurodivergent take on life, staying active in my own unique way.
My relationship with food has been a complex journey, filled with challenges and strains.
Tragedy struck when I lost a sibling to cancer, and in 2019, my own cancer journey began.
Mental health and illness have profoundly impacted my close circle, becoming profound sources of learning and growth.
Having grown up in a vibrant multicultural community, I have spent over two decades actively engaging with my Uruguayan roots and the Pacific communities in Western Sydney. Frequent trips to Samoa allow me to contribute my time to survivors of abuse, particularly children who have endured the unimaginable.
I thrive on staying busy, cherishing every moment and avoiding wasting time. However, I understand the importance of rest, often finding solace in the embrace of nature, be it the beach or mountains.
The ongoing journey ahead excites me, as I continue to learn and grow. The vast, exhilarating world we inhabit holds countless lessons waiting to be discovered. Each tomorrow gifted to me brings fresh opportunities, and I aspire to live well, embracing every experience that comes my way.
