We arrived in Bangkok a couple of days before my first face-to-face consultation at the hospital so we could explore and settle in for the month-long stay.
The company I went through for surgery abroad arranged all the accommodation and transport.
During my first appointment, my overall health was checked, and I was sent to have a few tests for pre-existing or prior conditions.
Two days later, my support person (who was staying with me at the hospital) and I were picked up for hospital admission.
I had been fasting since the morning as my allocated surgery time was that same night.
On arrival, patients were taken in to have their vitals checked, and then a cannula was inserted. And once formally admitted, we were shown to our room.
The hospital is a private hospital and although a little outdated it was nice.
Once in our room I was instructed to shower and change into the hospital gown to wait for my surgeon to come and meet with me prior to surgery.
I found the waiting game to be the most challenging (well, at least that’s what I thought at the time).
