I was asked if I had a dream car, a dream house or somewhere I’d love to live. I sat with the question for a short while before responding.
Nope, I don’t have a dream anything.
Why? Because I truly believe that if we put our mind & efforts into almost anything they can be achieved.
I’m not one for extravagance; fancy things, bling or expensive items do not impress me. I wasn’t always this way and I believe my thoughts changed during the 4 months that we lived in Samoa during 2015.
We lived simply when in Samoa. Next to no money, away from family and I believe that because of this I was provided the opportunity to observe, learn & grow. It was definitely life changing & something that was necessary.
Change helped me grow emotionally, mentally and spiritually.
Change provided me with the opportunity to be open to new experiences.
My current priorities are love, human connection, good health, continued growth, peace & travel.
I believe that If I love well & respect my people then there will be an abundance of love.
I believe that if I’m true to myself & live honestly then those I connect with will serve both them & I well.
I also believe that if I look after my health from top to toe, inside & out by listening to my body, resting my mind, being mindful of what I eat, drink & how active I am then I should be better than what I have been in the past.
I am mindful of growth therefore who or what I allow into my life will accommodate my future needs and events.
It’s taken me 46 years to eventually understand & experience peace.
Inner peace has come from growth.
Travel – we weren’t able to travel much when our family was young; finances, circumstances (my brain), jobs, working in casual roles & not having permanent employment definitely got in the way of any travel plans.
Back then we had dreams and we knew that eventually they would become a reality.
Right now travel is serving me (us).
Travel provides us the opportunity to explore, learn, talk, spend time alone without the everyday distractions to reflect, plan and grow.
We may not own a home, drive a fancy car, wear designer brands, be covered in jewels or go to concerts but that’s ok because those things don’t fill our cups.
New adventures, new experiences and the excitement that comes with them does.
Yes, we will need a house to retire in & there’s plans in the works for that but it’s not a ‘dream’ home, it’ll be more like a place to rest our tired bones & showcase our memories from a life well lived & somewhere we will have worked & planned towards achieving.
Dreams are nice but I prefer working towards goals to achieve what it is that I would like in my life.
Once they’re achieved I’ll tick those off and set some more to keep the momentum going.
